Hiking distance: 7 km
Hiking time: 3-4hours time

Drive to Lemosho gate and start your 7 Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro. Start your Lemosho route trek through the lush rain forest. The flora and fauna are richer in Lemosho route than on the other more popular routes through the rainforest. Infact, Lemosho is the most scenic route on Kilimanjaro.

In about 3-4 hours you will reach your camp in the rainforest at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree).

DAY 2: MTI MKUBWA-SHIRA CAMP.

Altitude: 2,780 m – 3,500 m
Hiking distance: 5 km
Hiking time: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, Proceed with your 7 Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro climb across the remaining lush rain forest towards the moorland zone. During afternoon, have a lunch stop at the valley just outside the Shira Crater.

After lunch proceed with your hike cross into the Shira caldera. Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.

DAY 3: SHIRA 1-SHIRA 2 CAMP.

Altitude: 3,500m – 3,840 m
Hiking distance: 5 km
Hiking time: 5 hours

After breakfast continue your kilimanjaro hike across the Shira Plateau towards Shira Two camp. This allows you to acclimatise slowly to the higher altitude. The scenic views of the Shira plateau are nothing less than spectacular.

DAY 4: SHIRA 2-BARANCO.

Altitude: 3,840 m – 3,960 m
Hiking distance: 11 km
Hiking time: 6-7 hours

Today is the last of the “easy days” on Kilimanjaro. You will hike for superb 6 to 7 hours. Pass the Lava Tower, around the southern side of Kibo, and descend to Barranco at the foot of Kibo Peak. This is one of your days for acclimatisation.

DAY 5: BARRANCO-BARAFU.

Altitude: 3,960 m – 4,035 m
Hiking distance: 5 km
Hiking time: 4-5 hours

After breakfast, proceed with your 7 day lemosho route Kilimanjaro hike across the Baranco Wall, a 600-foot rock. Once you cross the wall, the climb becomes less easy and beautiful with amazing scenic views. Then descend to the Karanga Valley. Dinner and overnight at Barafu.

DAY 6: SUMMIT ATTEMPT-MWECA CAMP.

From barafu Hut to Uhuru Peak (19,340 ft.) to Mweka Camp. Dress warmly for the summiting. Start climbing towards the Uhuru peak around midnight. Uhuru is the highest point in Africa, and the world’s highest free standing solitary peak (19,340 ft).

Reach the summit at sunrise 6:00am and celebrate before descending down to Mweka.

Kilimanjaro summiting day is the toughest day that most Kili trekkers have ever experienced. You will have ascended 3,600feet to Uhuru and descended 7,200 feet in a about of 11-14 hours.

However, the descending is far less tiring. We advice that you have a little rest once in awhile as you continue your way down to Mweka Camp.

DAY 7: MWEKA CAMP-MWEKA GATE.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi or Arusha. Descend to Mweka Gate and after reaching the Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificates and say goodbye to your dedicated Kilimanjaro crew.

Thereafter have a lunch and then get a ride back to the Tulia Boutique Hotel for resting and more celebrations, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro 7 days lemosho hiking.
