This 6 day kilimanjaro climb lemosho route allows you to experience Kilimanjaro mountain via the Lemosho route. This is an amazing and beautiful trail and It is the most famous now crossing some of Kilimanjaro’s most impressive and rugged terrain, including Kibo Peak’s base and glaciers to the south.

6 day Kilimanjaro climb lemosho route itinerary

DAY 1: LEMOSHO GATE-MTI MKUBWA CAMP 2,650m

Pick you up from the hotel in Moshi or Arusha and head to the Lemosho route Gate for registration entrance permits and start your 6 day Kilimanjaro hike via Lemosho route.
Proceed with a vehicle for an additional one-hour drive to the Lemosho starting point. A quick picnic lunch before meeting the entire crew, including guides, cooks, and porters.

Start your Kilimanjaro hike by crossing a rainforest, covering 7km in 2 to 3 hours to reach our first camp, Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Along the way, observe the flora, including impatiens Kilimanjaro, and luckily spot black and white Colobus monkeys and other forest Kilimanjaro wildlife.

DAY 2: MTI MKUBWA-SHIRA 2 CAMP.

Start the day with a beautiful and lengthy hike, one of the longest during 6 day kilimajaro climb Lemosho route. Hike for 3-4 hours in the first session, covering a distance of 7km to reach Shira 1 camp. Stop for lunch and a short break before proceeding with 4 to 5-hour hike, covering another 9km.

Pass across Shira Plateau, a world heritage site, through the moorland zone. Arrive at the Shira 2 camp nestled at the base of a massive lava flow.

DAY 3: SHIRA 2 CAMP-BARRANCO CAMP

Today, we will hike for 9km hike lasting approximately 6-8 hours. Start by taking the hills and rocks, progressing to a steady uphill climb. Reach the lava tower at 4600m, a 150-meter-high volcanic plug located just close to the mountain.

Around afternoon, stop for a lunch and a quick short break. Descend for around 2 hours through a trail of rocks and dust to before reaching the overnight area, Barranco Camp.

DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP-BARAFU CAMP

Depart from Barranco camp after breakfast, ascend a steep hill and pass the Barranco wall on the way to Karanga campsite.
Have your lunch at Karanga Valley campsite, take a few minutes to acclimatise, and then proceed to Barafu Hut.

Rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day at Barafu Hut, with the two peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi visible.

DAY 5: BARAFU CAMP TO SUMMIT 5895m and DESCEND TO MWEKA HUT 3100m

Wake up at around 11:00 pm, prepare with hot tea and snacks, and prepare with warmly clothes for the Kilimanjaro summit.
Proceed through a zigzag rocky area, reaching the crater rim and Stella Point (5756 meters) around 6:00 am.

Meet with other climbers from other routes at Stella Point, then join them towards Uhuru Peak, about one hour.

Experience the sunrise either at Stella Point, on the way to Uhuru, or at Uhuru Peak (5895m), spending 10-15 minutes for pictures and views.
Start a descend to Barafu Campsite for a rest and brunch, and then descend to Mweka Camp.

DAY 6: BARAFU CAMP TO SUMMIT 5895m and DESCEND TO MWEKA HUT 3100m

Descend post-breakfast to the Mweka Gate (1640m) for summit certificates and more celebrations.
Cover a descent distance of 10km over 3-4 hours, passing through the lush rainforest. Arrive at the Mweka Gate, our vehicle will be ready to transfer you back to Tulia Boutique Hotel Arusha hotel.

Enjoy a well-deserved hot shower and perhaps a celebratory beer to conclude your Kilimanjaro trek.

Other great to routes to consider is the Rongai Route which is the only Kilimanjaro Climbing Route approaching from the northern side of the mountain
