Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most famous wildlife destinations in Africa and is said to have the most densely populated wildlife in Africa. Described as ‘the eighth wonder of the world, Crater gains worldwide fame, attracting a huge number of visitors each year. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest volcano unfilled in the world. It builds a spectacular container of about 265 square miles, with sides up to 600 feet deep; it is home to about 30,000 animals at any one time. The Crater rim is over 2,200 feet high and can feel its weather. From these heights, it is possible to make small instances of animals making their way around the crater floor far below. Clouds surround the rocky shoreline many days a year and are among the few places in Tanzania where nights are cold.

Ngorongoro Crater: Highlights of the Wildlife
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the few places in Tanzania that is likely to see the endangered Black Rhino, as small numbers of people thrive in this picturesque and protected area. It is currently one of the few breeding grounds in the wild. Your chances of meeting a leopard here are also good, with beautiful lions with black fur. Many flamingos are also attracted to the soda waters of Lake Magadi.
Best time to visit
Although the best time to visit the Ngorongoro conservation area is from June to October during the dry season, visitors can travel at any time of the year. You will be able to plainly see many creatures during this season because there is less greenery.

The crater is around 600 meters deep and has a floor area of about 260 square kilometers. Having the volcano be active for almost 2 million years. The largest dormant caldera in the world is located in the Ngorongoro crater.
