Do not be deceived by Arusha National Park’s diminutive size (552 km2). It offers amazing animals and a variety of topography within its bounds. There is a lot to see here, including the craggy summits of Mount Meru, the swampy depths of the Ngurdoto Crater where warthogs wallow, monkey-filled montane forests, and rolling green slopes where giraffe and zebra graze.

While the Big Five, with the exception of buffalo, are absent from Arusha National Park, visitors may still enjoy breathtaking landscapes and encounters with a variety of wildlife, such as monkeys, giraffes, zebras, and the world’s cutest antelopes, the dik-dik. It’s the ideal starting point for your African safari because it offers commanding vistas of Mount Meru and, on a clear day, Kilimanjaro.

It could be more challenging to find wildlife in its numerous forested regions, so make sure to keep a look out!

Wildlife

Despite its small size, the park is home to a variety of animals, including colobus and vervet monkeys, giraffes, hippos, elephants, buffalo, red forest duikers, and bushbucks. There is a wide variety of birds, particularly interesting waterfowl.
