2-Day Tarangire & Ngorongoro Crater in Style
This budget tour takes you around the famous north circuit parks, Ngorongoro Crater is the highlighted park with beautiful landscapes and surreal views of the crater and it’s easier to see animals as it is on a crater floor. Then go to Tarangire Park famous for its amazing unique landscape and elephants.
Day 1: Tarangire Game drive (full day)
Early morning, depart for Tarangire National Park with a packed lunch, passing through open plains south of Arusha town. During the dry season from May to October, Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife, and its wetlands in the southeast portion of the park support over 300 varieties of birds.
Tarangire’s rolling savannah is dotted with thousands of baobab and acacia trees offering a great chance to enjoy Africa’s wilderness and solitude.
You will have a full-day game drive, dinner, and an overnight at Karatu Safari Camp.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater game drive then Arusha.
After an early breakfast, you will drive to the fascinating wildlife arena of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a “must-see” safari destination. Home to more than 25,000 large mammals – it is not unusual to see all of the ‘Big Five (buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion, and leopard) in a single day.
The crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is over 260km2 (100 miles2) and was formed when a massive volcano exploded and collapsed on itself 2 – 3 million years ago. It is now the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world and is often referred to as “Africa’s Eden”.
Driving through the Ngorongoro Highlands, you will arrive at the crater rim and then descend down 610m (2000 feet) onto its’ floor to start your safari extravaganza. Late afternoon you will start your journey back to your hotel in Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport.
